Revenue

  1. What does the future revenue look like?
We are estimating the sales tax will remain flat for the next few fiscal years with slow recovery after that. We are continuing to see a decline in property taxes and state reimbursements.

  2. Will you seek any local tax increases?  Have you raised fees?
Raising taxes would require approval from the voters, and right now we are not sure that the public wants to increase taxes. We are reviewing all of our fees to look for increases that may make sense.

  3. When talking about percentages of increases and decreases in sales and property tax, how does that relate in dollars?
A one percent increase in sales tax equates to about $580,000 dollars to Sacramento County. A one percent increase in property tax equates to about $1.8M to the County.
